Ian Stewart, a high school junior, began taking formal piano lessons at age ten. In 2012, he began studies with Pamela Mullins of Matthews. Ian’s awards include 2014 Senior Division First Place Winner of the Charlotte Piano Teacher’s Forum Solo Auditions, the 2014 Charlotte Music Club Eugene Craft Piano Scholarship and Honorable Mention at both the 2013 CPTF Concerto Auditions, Senior Division, and the 2014 Charlotte Symphony Young Artist Concerto Competition, Senior Division. Ian’s most memorable performance was a solo classical concert in 2013 to raise money for his Eagle Scout Project.

A 2011 Duke TIP Bevan Scholar and homeschool student, Ian also enjoys studying mathematics and participating in local and state mathematics competitions. He is especially interested in the intersection of music and mathematics, which he is exploring through a new interest in music composition. In addition to his musical pursuits, Ian is also an active leader in his Boy Scout Troop, having achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He is an avid hiker and enthusiastic amateur astronomer.
